Maxi is a dice game for 2 to 6 players. The game is played with 2 dice and each player starts with 2 to 4 chips depending on the variant played. Players must toss the dice and announce the result without showing it to their opponents. If the dice yield different numbers, the higher of the two always forms the first digit of the total and the lower the second (e.g.: 2 and 3 yields a result of 32). Bluffing plays a key role in the game.
Doubles are the most valuable results with the exception of 21 – a Maxi. The next player must choose to either believe the announcement of the previous player or question the call. He/she must therefore either attempt to better the result or reveal the dice. If a player is caught bluffing or if he/she reveals the result of a roll only to discover that the announcement was genuine, he/she loses a chip.
